Semi-Intensive

Engineered Performance. Architectural Elegance.

The GreenGrid® semi-intensive system strikes the perfect balance between engineering performance and visual appeal. This depth system is often selected when enhanced stormwater performance is required and can be achieved with a slightly deeper soil profile.  It is also utilized in drier climates or when additional visual interest is desired, allowing for both sedum (succulent) groundcovers and small ornamental grasses and perennials at a lighter weight than our Intensive (8-in.) modules. With deeper soil profiles and diverse plantings, you can transform rooftops into functional, living landscapes.

  • Standard 2 ft x 2 ft x 6-in. modules, compatible with all other depths in mixed-depth applications. Compatible with standard accessories including hardscape, edging, mineral wool stormwater storage layers, and tray inserts to create internal void space for stormwater storage.
  • Accommodates a wide range of plant types: succulents, perennials, and ornamental and/or native grasses.
  • Allows for custom planting layouts and landscape design.
  • Compatible with dedicated irrigation systems, which are required for non-succulent plantings in all climates or arid or semi-arid climates.
  • Non-succulent plantings may require additional horticultural care if incorporated.
  • Designed for roofs with higher load-bearing capacity of at least 39–44 lb/sf.
  • Enhances building aesthetics and curb appeal.
  • Improves stormwater management and reduces runoff.
  • Contributes to energy conservation through active cooling during summer months and thermal mass during winter months.
  • Offers a usable, nature-rich amenity space for occupants.
  • Increases biodiversity and supports pollinators, particularly when including non-succulent plantings.
  • Adds long-term value to the property through sustainable design.
