Project Narrative: As
part of an effort to gain LEED®-NC
Silver Certification, the State of Idaho contracted
WESTON to install the GreenGrid® system
on the Barber Park Administration & Rental
building in Boise, Idaho.
Along with other natural
and recycled construction materials, and energy-efficient
components, 3,660 ft2 of 2’x2’x2.5” GreenGrid® modules
were installed. Due to the arid-mountain climate,
a drip irrigation system was installed to sustain
the green roof. Recycled rubber pavers were
also installed around the perimeter of the
green roof.
The State of Idaho’s ultimate goal
for the installation of this green roof is
to test and demonstrate high performance building
technology for preventing non-point source
pollution through design integration. The State
plans to observe the effects of the green roof
related to the reduction of stormwater run-off.
An observation platform was included in the
design of the building to allow access for
observation and showcasing of the green roof.
