Moran, Inc., a Manchester, NH, area engineering
firm, had the GreenGrid® system
installed on the roof over the entrance to
its building. This installation of approximately
250 ft2 is
visible to visitors and building occupants
from offices and a shared hallway. TF Moran
plans to use it as a small-scale demonstration
of low-impact and sustainable development for
their clients.
The extensive green roof
layout features six different sedum species,
chosen for their ability to tolerate the extremes
of the New Hampshire climate, arranged randomly
on the roof. Plants in these modules had been
growing for at least a year prior to installation
and provided full coverage at the time of placement.
A ladder hoist, typically used to bring shingles
to a roof, was used to quickly and safely lift
modules to this limited-access rooftop. |
