Project Narrative: The green roof on the Natty Boh Tower at Brewers Hill is an integral part of the green design elements for this historic renovation by Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse, Inc. In fact, the project is the first to be accepted into the Maryland Green Building Tax Credit Program. The green roof will offer natural views for tenants on multiple levels. It will also significantly help stormwater management and promote increased energy efficiency in the building, which is located blocks from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
The extensive green roof was designed by Cho Benn Holback + Associates and features blanket coverage of six different roof areas. A total of 13 different sedum species were planted randomly to achieve a “meadow-like” effect when grown out. Approximately 60% of the species chosen maintain winter interest. Some are also taller, providing vertical visual interest. |
