Project Narrative: The county of Arlington, VA, has recently enacted laws promoting green roofs on new construction. This test plot of 104 ft² is the first green roof for McCaffery, a high-profile developer in downtown Arlington. Installation of this demonstration-scale green roof was completed via service elevator and stairwell access to the roof, eliminating the need for street use/hoisting permits in this dense urban area.

The extensive green roof layout features six different sedum species, chosen for their winter interest, arranged randomly on the roof. The sedum in these modules had been growing for at least a year prior to installation and provided full coverage at the time of placement.
