Client: Levine Builders
Location: Hyde
Park Neighborhood, Chicago, IL
GreenGrid® Size: 1,104
ft2
Contractor: WESTON
Landscape Design: WESTON
Rooftop System: Ultra-Extensive
Status: Completed Late Fall 2004
Project Narrative: The
design of the addition to the AkibaSchechter
Jewish Day School in the Hyde Park neighborhood
called for a small 1,104 ft2 green
roof to complement the new structure. The GreenGrid® Green
Roof covers approximately 50% of the new addition.
The green roof was composed of 276 Ultraextensive
(2.5") GreenGrid® modules
and was fully installed in a day. The GreenGrid® Ultra-Extensive
modules were planted with a Sedum species mix
containing Sedum acre, Sedum album,
and Sedum spurium ‘Dragon’s
Blood.’ Since the project occurred
so late in the year (December), the sedum plants
were dormant at installation, but will thrive
once again in the spring. The photos were taken
shortly after installation was completed. |
