New Green Roof Atop Augusta Medical Center College, Augusta, GA

School Construction News, a newspaper aimed at the school construction and maintenance industry, featured the new GreenGrid® green roof being installed atop the Augusta Medical Center College in Augusta, GA, in its March/April 2006 issue. In addition to featuring the benefits of green roofs, the article included an interview with Sandy McCullough of Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®). Based in Chicago, Sandy is a LEED-accredited professional who works with WESTON to install green roofs using the modular GreenGrid® technology.

According to Sandy, “Energy, building, and maintenance costs are likely to continue to rise. What we expect to see happen is green roofs, especially modular systems, will effectively become ‘cost neutral’ because of the savings they will return on energy, building construction, and maintenance.”

GreenGrid® Roofs offers roofing capabilities using low-maintenance, hearty plants which are pre-planted in lightweight modules made from recycled materials. Green roofs help reduce energy costs, urban heat island effect, storm water runoff, and sound pollution; and offer aesthetic amenities for building owners, tenants, and neighbors.
